URGENT NEWS: Time to shift in to gear, a new call-pocket 10-Ball Division is here!
A new 10-Ball Division will replace the Heads Up Division beginning June 11th, 2018.
This announcement comes after months of growing concerns about the formerly groundbreaking “Heads Up” Division’s future, following continually dwindling participation. At the conclusion of a formal review, we’ve determined that 01-18 is the final season of the “Heads Up” Division and its groundbreaking draft format. "The fiscal realities we face — both from an operating and a capital investment standpoint — are starker than ever and demand that we take decisive action for the greater good of the league and local organized amateur billiard sports competitive-play," PBL league operator Corey Harper said." As we look at the evolving landscape of organized amateur billiard competition-play, we see expenses only continuing to rise. When considering a model that best protects the financial future and prominence of the league, the “Heads Up” Division model is simply not sustainable." In summary, the Premier Billiard Leagues will be shut down the groundbreaking “Heads Up” Division format indefinitely at the end of Session 01-18. A Monday night Division out the Cue Ball Billiards in Alhambra will continue however, in its place will begin the new “10-Ball Division;” (beginning June 11, 2018) which will operated more similarly to the successfully ongoing “Big Track” and “Magic 8-Ball” Divisions. We require only six-teams in order to begin the “10-Ball” Division. The growing participation in “Big Track” Division (10-11 teams) and “Magic 8-Ball” (currently at capacity of 12 teams), along with continually diminishing “Heads Up” Division participation numbers, only go to show that there is far greater demand for the more “inclusive” handicap oriented amateur play, than the, at times, intimidating and more-exclusive “Heads Up” Division draft format. An option of a non-handicapped division w/out a draft was looked at extensively; however the inevitability of “stacked” teams would run rampant and would thereby ultimately fail an even more rapid death that of the “Heads Up” Division. We wish to thank all of whom participated in the “Heads Up” Division, and hope you will like to remain on to play more call-pocket “10-Ball” on Monday nights! Please reach out to league management at firstname.lastname@example.org or 213-534-8459, no later than June 4th, if you and your team would like to participate in the upcoming “10-Ball” Division season beginning June 11th, 2018!
